I stayed at the Golden Banana Bed & Breakfast in october & november of 2010.
I had originally planned for a short week and ended up staying a dozen days. Partly for the Angkor temples, partly to relax in my gorgeous room.
I was in Room #1, an airy and sunny large room with exquisite fixtures, a bathroom I loved and a terrace that I could live in, with its luxurious teakwood sunbed and flower pots. The swimming pool is a real pool, not a duck pond, with a waterfall and sun beds aplenty.
What made the GB special however was the service. Fabulous manager who is always on top of things - many thanks again for taking such good care of me ! A helpful and totally sweet staff that brings a smile back to your face. Minor issues were fixed within the minute and there was no request too strange. The tuktuk driver arranged for me was, well, a great guy, nice and 100% reliable.
I also liked that the B&B was located outside the Old Market tourist area (at night, it's a zoo out there) but still within walking distance, even at night.
This review is so enthusiastic it might seem insincere. Well, all I can say is I'm not so sure the good people at GB are looking forward to seeing me again that much, given that I'm the customer from hell. I need tea at 5 AM before temples, I want my room cleaned by 12 when I return, I've got all kinds of weird requests... I'm really sorry, folks, but I wouldn't want to stay anywhere else. And I've started recommending you to friends who are just as peachy as I am.
You run a gem of a place.
Good luck and fortune to you all. |
